The co-operation between Alma Marketing Oy and Oulu University of Applied Sciences (formerly known as Oulu Polytechnic) was started in 1996 and still develops constantly. The ALMA system is used in versatile teaching in engineering of the automation technology education center.

"ALMA gives our students the feel of the real tool used in the real work. Its software architecture also supports the contest of our vocational training courses", tells senior lecturer Mr. Heikki Kurki. Familiarizing oneself with ALMA is a part of the education for every forthcoming automation engineer. The software is widely used in both diploma works and practical training. "The students become genuinely interested when they notice that they have the possibility to get acquainted with the modern software used in the real working life. The possibility of high quality visualization brings more work efficiency", elaborates Mr. Kurki. Using ALMA is a real benefit for the students in Oulu region also because the system is very popular among the leading local companies.

The electrical and automation engineering learning environments have the connections for example to Enterprise Asset Managemen and other Resource Planning systems. The department has one modeled water process for simulation. "We chose ALMA because it represented new thinking in automation engineering. Being domestic was also important as well as responding to our renewal needs", Mr. Kurki continues.
