In Kokkola, both our new and more experienced ALMA users have had the possibility to enroll in the ALMA courses they prefer. The courses have included matters in accordance with the subject but also listening to the user`s feedback. By the request of the more experienced ALMA users, the ALMA Champion course was held for the first time.

The ALMA Champion Course participants included system engineer/automation and electricity planner Jaana Pelkonen from Insta Automation and Hannu Raitala from HRT-Suunnittelu, which works for example for Sachtleben Pigments Oyj. Jaana Pelkonen told she is the main ALMA user at Insta Automation. She is responsible for electricity and instrumentation planning as well as teaching the new employeers how to use ALMA. Hannu Raitala is the ALMA main user at Sachtleben Pigments Oyj. He is responsible for field instrumentation and electricity planning, which all are realized using ALMA. ”I came to update my knowhow and to get some new ideas for using ALMA”, told Jaana Pelkonen. ”Knowledge increases pain”, laughed Hannu Raitala and continued by telling that the course gave new visions. Raitala and Pelkonen both ascertained that although they always get the new information as the new sofware versions are published, they understood it better by studying together. During the course it was possible to test the system and ask questions. ”The best way to learn is by model examples”, Raitala said.

”The course seemed to come for need”, told the course organizer Annika Kurvinen from Alma Consulting Oy. ”Of the other courses, the same goes for the basic course, to where it is easy to send the new ALMA users. In the advanced courses we study the different parts of ALMA software more accurately. In the autumn we will start a new round. One of the new and interesting courses will be learning to use the new and more diversified Search Tool”, Kurvinen continues.
