The flexibility of the ALMA development platform was once again proofed, as an authentic ALMA software started in a Nokia N900 phone. We are not talking about any ”miniALMA” - the actual ALMA full software is now usable as such in N900 phones (compare to webALMA).

The required code changes for the mobile software were much smaller than expected. ”For the demo version, the code changes were just a few hundred lines, meaning less than a thousandth of the entire code”, tells Heikki Uusitalo from ALMA product development team. Compared to traditional computer screens, a smartphone screen sets it`s own requirements for the user interface. The future Nokia models (especially Meego based) further help to develop the mobile attributes.

The concept is now tested and all the forthcoming development will be realized according to the customer requirements.
